Upon The Waters, Upon Life
My eyes, upon a blank canvas of never ending water and sky- “The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb: ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough. Resume your journey and go to the hill country of the Amorites and their neighbors in the Arabah, the hill country, the Judean foothills, the Negev and the sea coast-to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon as far as the Euphrates River. See, I have set the land before you. Enter and take possession of the land the Lord swore to give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and their future descendants.’”- Deuteronomy 1:6-8 God has promised us all a “land” in a sense, and its our responsibility to rise up and take the opportunity. Some times we can end up being content with our safely constructed christian lives that we never truly take hold of everything God has promised us. Just as the Lord calls the people of Moses to leave the mountain, and to take the land in which He had promised their ancestors. Key word is “Promised”, so why should we worry about stepping out if our comfort and to be bold and take what God has promised? God has promised! He is a great and mighty God will deliver without hesitation for He has promised.
“Then [Ezra] told them, Go your way,eat the fat, drink the sweet drink, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. And be not grieved and depressed, for the joy of the Lord is your strength and stronghold.”
- Nehemiah 8:10 AMP Holding Hands. Holding Hearts
“If we want to learn to love, then this is the way: by letting Christ rule our hearts, with thanksgiving, as his Word dwells richly in us, teaching and admonishing us in the way of God’s love. These are the resources of God’s grace, and apart from them we will find it beyond our ability to experience and to share the love we long for in our relationships.” “But a relationship matures toward true and Godly love as it ripens into a desire to give, a longing to bless, and a willingness to sacrifice and to serve.” “Many men think of the call to give themselves for a woman solely in terms of her protection… But they fail to realize that when a woman enters a dating relationship, she mainly needs to be protected from the sins of the very man to whom she is offering her heart. The enemy that men need to stand up to is the one who lives within themselves: the one who is selfish, insensitive, and uncommitted. It is when that man is put to death that the woman will be safe and will be blessed in the relationship.” (Source: maxjoconnell)
Blessing in the mail
Got a letter in the mail…with my name on it…and no address from another house. It had $100 in the envelope and no note. Praise the Lord!!! Thank you who ever blessed me with $100!!! I was behind on my car payment.
Mark 2:1-4
“When He entered Capernaum again after some days, it was reported that He was at home. So many people gathered together that there was no more room, not even in the doorway, and He was speaking the message to them. Then they came to Him bringing a paralytic, carried by four men. Since they were not able to bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above where He was. And when they had broken through, they lowered the mat on which the paralytic was lying.” -Mark 2:1-4 What this tells me: Christ will not just fall into your lap, we have to seek Him to know Him. Which is why the guys didn’t just wait around for Christ outside the house, they diligently found a way to Him. Also that, sometimes to get to Christ, the easy entrance of the front door may be blocked by some sin in your life, that to get to Christ we have to go out of our way and ‘go through the roof’ instead of the ‘front door’. Being a Christian won’t always mean taking the easy way out. Also the four guys had no interest of healing for themselves, they we’re selfless in their actions carrying a paralyzed man all the way to Christ, even going as far as tearing the roof off the top of a house to get him there. That is true love for another person! I’m not saying we need to go and ‘tear rooftops’ off of houses to show the love of Christ to someone, but this is definably a challenge to share Christ’s love with those around us a little better. And lastly, they Didn’t give up when it seemed there was no way into the house where Jesus was, they sought out a way to get to Him even if it meant going out their way and working hard to get there. Having such great amount of Faith, knowing that if they got that man to Christ, he would be healed. We shouldn’t always expect to get to Christ ‘through the front door’, sometimes we have to work a little and get out of our area of comfort, and we should have great Faith in the Word knowing that it is alive and breathing, and that Christ can most certainly heal even Today.
Ties That Bind
“I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.” - Hosea 11:4 Someone may have let you down in a big way. Because you loved them much, they have disappointed you greatly. You love profoundly, but they rarely reciprocate with the same degree of love and kindness. This subtle and sometimes not so subtle rejection has grown into a big time burden. You’ve tried to ignore its effect on your heart but over time, your heart has become calloused. Ironically, you’ve become like the one who has inflicted the harm. This burden of hurt will crush you if you do not come to terms with its raw reality. Service for your Savior and busyness in the Kingdom activities will not erase its effect. This is first and foremost between you and your heavenly father. Go to Him and lay your burdens at His feet. Allow Him to tie up and bind your broken heart with His kindness, love, and forgiveness. He alone can bear this burden. No need to patronize the provider of this pain or rejection the one has resisted your love. Instead, take it to the Lord and trust Him to bear this burden on your behalf. His love and kindness ablate attitudes birthed out of dire dysfunction, so focus on your heavenly Father’s soul food. Manna from heaven is full of nourishment for your soul. His Word is warm, moist bread for your life. His answered prayers are cool, refreshing, living water that results in mature faith and garners hope for your heart. Let the Lord nourish your needy self with eternal nutrients. He will nurse your hurt heart back to health (Matthew 13:15). A healthy heart made whole by its Maker is in a position of strength to do the same for friends. He bears your burden so you can be a burden-bearer for another (Galatians 6:2). Make it a point to ask others about their tears and trials. Your kindness and love can be the tie that binds someone’s sick condition of despair into one of hope and encouragement. Look for a way to bear a brother’s or sister’s burden in prayer, for it positions you to leverage kindness and love on behalf of the Lord. Prayer is extremely efficient and effective, so be a channel of Christ’s love and kindness by saying a simple prayer. The Holy Spirit is the glue of grace, so pray for His regular and robust filling. Love and kindness are evidence that you are overflowing with the Spirit’s influence. So share your burdens with your heavenly Father and those you can trust.
